Diabetes Mellitus, generally known as Diabetes, is a chronic disease. Diabetes is caused when the body is unable to produce, process and use insulin as required.

Type 2 Diabetes can be managed. With a few modifications in your lifestyle, making healthy food choices with nutritious and balanced diet and having some form of regular exercise like walking, it is possible to manage Type 2 Diabetes and to keep it under control.

Management of Diabetes does not mean that it will be cured, you will have to get your sugar levels checked regularly; although you may not need medicines anymore.

Type 2 Diabetes affects the body in a major way. The first side effect that it causes is obesity. The first lifestyle modification that a Diabetic person must make is to add regular exercise to their daily routine. Reducing body weight is directly proportional to an increase in body metabolism which, in turn, helps in the production of insulin in the body.

They will keep you off binge eating and also help fight insulin resistance in the body due to their anti-inflammatory properties.

Foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids like lentils and beans also work wonders for Diabetes. By following a healthy and nutritious diet, you can expect weight loss and improved body metabolism.

Type 2 Diabetes is not life-threatening; however, it important to understand that living with it and not managing it properly can lead to other complications. Since this condition can be managed with just a few modifications to your lifestyle, it is advisable to do so.
